Making Intellimize a Great Place to Work

Many tech companies struggle to figure out how to make remote work work. I’m here to tell you it is possible and it is so worth it.

It’s been two years since the Intellimize team has gotten together in person and we’ve tripled in size since we last saw one another. Last week we converged in San Diego for our Intellicon ‘22 company wide, in-person event. We are spread across 23 states and two countries so it’s not an easy feat for us to get everyone together face to face. While some folks were unable to make it in person, we made sure that every person felt included and able to participate via video so they could feel as if they were there.

We wanted to ensure our time spent together was true quality time consisting of part learning and part fun. We were privileged to have the opportunity to hear from the former CMO of Tableau, CMO advisor, and board member, Elissa Fink, who spoke to us about what it was like when she grew Tableau from $5 million to $1 billion in revenue over the course of her career there – a true and inspiring growth startup story!

On the “fun” side of things, we found ourselves engaging in some shenanigans from mechanical bull riding to karaoke to cooking competitions, and we had a blast! One of the most special things we did was to go around and ask each person what their take away was at the end of the event and those are moments we’ll all cherish for a long time.

Getting together in person with your teammates takes some effort which is why we also offer folks the ability to get together in a WeWork several times per quarter. Being in-person not only fosters collaboration and trust, but creates a unified sense of mission and purpose. Those informal “water cooler” conversations or casual coffee or lunch conversations are difficult to replicate over Zoom and are also what made this event so special. Our CEO Guy Yalif’s inspiring keynote reminded us of our collective purpose: to help companies personalize user experiences for 100% of visitors so they achieve extraordinary results while making this the best professional experience of our lives.

Intellimize is made up of resilient, creative, curious, and talented people who enjoy each other’s company so much that this event didn’t even really feel like work, with the exception of having to get out of our PJs. I’m so grateful for my teammates and the culture Guy, Brian, Jin, and Lindsay have built here—perhaps this is why we were just awarded Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces 2022.
